This is the most information Obsidian fans have gotten so far about “Avowed.” Its official pages do not say much other than it is the developer’s “next epic first-person RPG set in the fantasy world of Eora.”Ī release date announcement is likely still far off, but the same report mentioned that Obsidian has moved from pre-production to having a playable alpha build of “Avowed.” That still means the game is unlikely to arrive anytime soon. Some advanced spells, however, are said to require “two-handed magic” to perform. It might also be possible to have a physical weapon on one hand and a magic spell on the other. With the two-hand combat system, the game will reportedly allow players to use both their hands for casting spells. So aside from the usual weapons of choice, players can also choose to fight with magic spells. The world of Eora where “Avowed” is set is also filled with magic and mysteries. The report said “Avowed” developers appear to be using an improved version of the “The Outer Worlds” engine, and the upcoming title features “action-oriented first-person combat and deep RPG exploration and narrative systems.” Windows Central reportedly saw footage of the game’s early builds showing that it features similar two-hand combat mechanics that should be familiar to fans of “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.” This means players would be able to equip their characters with two types of weapons at the same time. But the animations in the short trailer immediately led to comparisons with Bethesda’s “The Elder Scrolls.” The new report now suggests that the similarities would go beyond the games’ appearances. When it was announced last year, Obsidian only released a brief cinematic teaser that does not show much about the game’s world or any gameplay action. ![]() Windows Central reported this week that sources with knowledge about the “Avowed” development have provided information in recent months that now gives fans more idea on how the game will be played. ![]() It was also reiterated that Halo Infinite will be available via Xbox Games Pass from day one.It has been more than a year since Obsidian Entertainment announced the development of “Avowed.” While the developer has yet to provide new details about its gameplay, a new report reveals the game will feature several elements that combat RPG fans will likely appreciate. We also got a detailed look at Halo Infinite, as 343 Studios shared a gameplay demo showing master Chief gunning down various aliens while using exciting sci-fi gadgets including a grappling hook. Microsoft announced a slew of other first-party titles during its Xbox Games Showcase event, including State of Decay 3, Forza Motorsport, Stalker 2 and Everwild. That means Avowed is not expected to join Halo Infinite as a launch title, which is not a huge surprise considering it wasn’t too long ago when The Outer Worlds hit stores. There was no release date confirmed for Avowed, so it’s likely that we’ll have to wait until at least 2021 for its arrival. It was at least confirmed that Avowed has been “built from the ground up” for the Xbox Series X, so expect it to support 4K resolutions and ray tracing for some next-gen visuals. The trailer revealed very little, other than being set in a seemingly medieval era while featuring first-person perspective sword fighting. ![]() While The Outer Worlds didn’t quite push boundaries as far as Fallout: New Vegas did, we’re hoping the studio will go bigger and better now they have joined Xbox as a first-party developer. While the brief trailer admittedly looked like a Skyrim clone, Avowed will no doubt feature Obsidian’s fantastic writing and multi-choice dilemmas. Obsidian is famous for developing games such as Fallout: New Vegas and The Outer Worlds, so to see them creating an fantasy-focused RPG will undoubtedly excite fans. A new game called Avowed was confirmed to be in the works by Microsoft, with renowned developer Obsidian at the helm.
